Upcoming Event for allieart4children - Arts and Craft Show to Benefit Military Families
Wow! Only one week for me to finish getting my ducks in a row for the Calera National Guard Benefit Arts and Craft Show that will be held June 6th from 8am to 4pm at the Armory in Calera.
The couple who are organizing this wonderful event, Becky and Steve Mize, had heard many stories of soldiers not being able to find work, keep work, or maintain a normal life immediately before deployment and after they return home. They put their concern for these men and women and their families into action, and have worked incredibly hard to organize and advertise this terrific show.
Please take some time to check out Becky and Steve's Etsy shop, HappyHippyWear, for beautifully made, roomy totes (for grown ups and little ones)and adorable pillow case dresses!
25 artisans will be selling their handmade items, from purses to pottery. There will also be a canned food drive and representatives will be taking up donations for the Family Readiness Group. Food vendors will also be on hand with tasty treats! The show will happen rain or shine - either inside or out!
I can't wait to be a part of this show, and am busily preparing new photo pendants, matted prints, ACEO's, onsies and a portrait portfolio! If you are in the neighborhood, stop by, shop, and say hello!

Let's celebrate our mothers with a giveaway!
Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother. ~Oprah Winfrey
Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ~Elizabeth Stone
You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back. ~William D. Tammeus
Mother love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible. ~Marion C. Garretty, quoted in A Little Spoonful of Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul
Sweater, n.: garment worn by child when its mother is feeling chilly. ~Ambrose Bierce
I was sidetracked earlier in the week by a bug that made us all sick, so I am late in getting this up, but I wanted to post it anyway. Better late then never!
I wanted to have a giveaway in honor of Mother's Day. To say thank you to all of the women who are mothers to us for all they have done and all they continue to do. This is my second Mother's Day without my precious mama, but as I have said here before, I know that she is at peace, and am thankful to God every day for that. I miss her terribly, but want to celebrate her life and her love for me at this special time of year.
In honor of my mother, an avid gardener, photographer and nature-lover, my children and I are planting flowers in our yard. I am thrilled that my children share a love of growing things - it must be genetic!
To enter, please leave a comment here on how you celebrate and honor your mother, or anyone who is like a mother to you. I am excited to hear about your celebrations, memories and tributes. Share your stories with us!
I will draw the winner's name out of a hat on May 31st! And the winner will receive a 5x7 print of the poppy photo above. Be sure to leave me a way to get in touch with you!
Thank you for stopping by ! I look forward to hearing your stories!
Happy Mother's Day!
Take care, allie
