Our sweet little Dodger died today.....

Please be thinking of us - our little trooper, our tough little sweetheart passed away this morning. We are very sad and miss him so much. But we know he is ok now, and frisking around in heaven.

Dodger, you will always be in my heart, little guy. Thank you for loving me through the ups and downs of 13 years of my life. You were my roommate, my beach buddy, my baby, best friend. You always knew when someone needed a hug, you have such a sensitive little heart. You brought joy to so many people, and made my life so much richer. You taught me about perserverance, living joyfully and allowed me to experience what it feels like to be loved unconditionally. I will love you forever.

My friend Pam sent me this story, which I think is very comforting.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Thank you all so much! You guys are the best. Last night was really rough, but I know that he is alright now, and for that I am thankful. I feel blessed to have been given so much time with him. He was a very special little guy.

And I am thankful that he didn't suffer much at all - he even swiped part of a turkey sandwich the day before he died. Such a sweet and strong little spirit.

Michelle, I am so sorry for your loss of Sami. My thoughts continue to be with you and your family. And I also hope they have found each other!

thank you again, allie

Allie, I am so terribly sorry for you - what a sweet little face he had! I have to chuckle when I read that he stole a sandwich the day before he passed away - I hope such funny, happy memories will eventually help ease the pain. Hugs to you and your family,
Michelle

Julie, you are right, he was a little guy, but I feel like a big part of my heart went with him.
