My Second Giveaway - Tiny Framed Print

Perfect for letting someone know that you are thinking of them, or to brighten a friend's day - tiny little framed photographs. The frames measure ~ 3x4 inches, perfect for a windowsill, desk or shelf. Most of the prints available in my etsy shop would work in one of these little frames - just let me know what you are interested in - I am happy to work with you!

For my giveaway, post a comment here describing your favorite holiday tradition. My little helpers and I will choose a winner out of our Boston Red Sox hat on January 1, 2009! The winner will receive one of these tiny framed prints!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

One of my favorite holiday traditions is putting our children's stockings at the ends of their beds before they go to bed. When they wake up they can go through them, but not go downstairs where the tree is. My parents did this with us as children and now I am doing this with my kids. =D

My Mom handmade ornaments in the 1960s for our tree based on the twelve days of Christmas, and hanging them on the tree each year is very special. I enjoy unwrapping each one and carefully adjusting the hair on one of the milkmaids, or making sure the pearl handled drumsticks are touching the drum just so. It always brings back memories of holidays when my children lived at home and we all did it together. It's the first thing they do when they come over to visit - check out the ornaments on the tree and lovingly make a few adjustments themselves :) Happy Holidays, Allie - enjoy!

I now have the angel from my childhood tree on my tree. For some reason, my brother thought my Mom need a new one so I rescued her. I still can't believe he didn't cherish her but I'm so glad to have her!!!

My favorite holiday tradition is putting up the tree with its strange collection of ornaments made and collected through the years. You will find a felt santa, a polymer clay snowman, handpainted ceramic reindeer, and Smurfette wearing a red Mrs Claus dress playing tennis amidst the branches.
PS: I want the Bosox hat almost as much as the beautiful wee framed photograph! ;)

We have a lot of traditions that I love, but one of my favorites when I was a kid, which I hope to continue with my kids, was decorating spritz cookies. We would help my mom make the dough and then she'd press all the different shaped cookies out using the cookie press - trees, wreaths, stars, etc - and we'd cover them with red hots and chocolate chips and colored sugar.

I love getting the box of Christmas stuff out of the attic and setting everything up with my two very young kids. This is my daughters first Christmas! We also have a shelf elf, im not sure if you have heard of that. But i love setting it up all around the house when my son sleeps and seeing his reaction in the morning about where Finny is hiding. Everything about December excites me!

My favorite Holiday tradition is to open one gift on Christmas Eve. My parents did this when I was a child and of course I still have to do it, now, because who doesn't love unwrapping gifts?! My husband enjoys, it, too, since his family didn't have this tradition when he was growing up.

My favorite holiday tradition...when my family was all living nearby..was a big Christmas Eve dinner party at my parents house. They had a huge restored colonial house, everything was so elegant and beautiful. There was tons of great food, lots of people and great fun. We had an indoor swimming pool that we would swim in at the party..strange to do this on Christmas eve! I really miss this!

My favorite tradition is squeezing the whole family in front of the television to watch A Christmas Story. We recite many of the lines in unison. Growing up in Michigan, it brings back memories. It doesn't matter how often we see it - we crack up every time!

My favorite holiday tradition is making 12 different types of cookies, 1 for each of the '12 days of Christmas' leading up to the 'BIG day'!

Oh yeah, and listening to Christmas music pretty much non-stop beginning on Thanksgiving all the way through New Years!

my favourite tradition is getting the foods ready - braised red cabbage in the freezer ready to defrost to go with the turkey, home made mince pies, icing the cake - and a new one this year, a gingerbread star tree cake.

First of all, Red Sox Nation represent! Okay, now that that's out of the way:

Every year since I hit middle school, my mom and I make a date to construct holiday figurines. They're these dolls, usually about fifteen inches tall with clay faces and hands and hand-formed plush bodies. Originally we would each make a Santa, but as the years went by and we got more skilled at the craft, we started branching out. These days we have a Mrs. Claus for every Santa, a troup of elves, a Scrooge, a Marley, and a SugarPlum Fairy, to name just a few. With her retirement just around the corner, my mom is toying with the idea of turning her hobby into a business. I'm really excited for her, but I'm kind of hoping that the enterprising won't put a damper on our annual holiday creations. It doesn't matter how old I get, when mom and I break out the clay and sculpting tools and settle ourselves to the task, I get the exact same giddiness I felt when I was thirteen and first learning how to create. It's an extraordinary feeling. I wouldn't give it up for the world.

Our favorite holiday tradition is taking the kids to a local farm on the Friday after Thanksgiving to cut down our Christmas tree. We take a drive through the country first, then walk on the farm in search of the perfect tree. My husband cuts it down and the three of us lower it into the wagon and we all drag it back to the car together. That weekend is spent decorating the house and tree. It is nice having it all done at the end of November so we can start enjoying it early in the season!

I asked my kids this year what was one of their favorite memories of C-mas. Going to the Nutcracker Symphony in Danbury,Ct. Poppy played the flute, basoon and picole.Jan said "going for ice cream @ Friendlies afterward. As each child got old to go, Poppy gave them a Nutcracker for C-mas.
I have my big Nutcracker out on my shelf that Ruth brought back from Germany. My son loved listening to the music,he got a small tape recorder w/headsets for a present from Uncle Mark so he could play it whenever he wanted to.
Sadly Poppy and Uncle Mark are gone. We only have our warm memories of these times. glograbear

The "beach cats" print is just cute...I don't have a cat but I cat-sit for neighbors when they are on vacation or in the hospital...so I have furry "cat-friends" which I adore.

Thanks for the joyful giveaway!
